  • ‘Star Wars’: Rian Johnson & ‘Game of Thrones’ Writers Working Together on the Next Decade of Films

Despite the announced hiatus, we knew for a fact that there are at least two more Star Wars trilogies now in development, one by The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson and the other by Game of Thrones showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

After spending the past few months being nothing more than an extremely awkward E3 tease, EA have finally revealed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to the world. Respawn made the executive decision to halt development on this title, switching development to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order instead. A New Jedi Story BeginsAs a former Padawan on the run from the Empire, you must complete your training before Imperial Inquisitors discover your plan to revive the Jedi Order.

"It's testing an enemy, finding their weakness, figuring out how to exploit it". There are areas where it's hacking stuff, because that is the fantasy where you can just mow through Stormtroopers.

"But the enemies that you'll face differ so it's different approaches to combat throughout the game".

Fans have had a number of theories about the direction the new Star Wars films could take.

But that's just the start of what players are in for, teases Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games. We're looking at: "What is the next decade of storytelling?"

Now, in a more intriguing update (also by Entertainment Weekly), it looks like Rian Johnson and Benioff and Weiss are all working together to craft the next phase of Star Wars. For example, the Second Sister and the Purge Troopers, specially trained to take on Jedi, first debuted in Marvel's Darth Vader comic-book series. Because it's nice to be told a thing, and then you can experience it with the filmmaker.

That video game depicted not only the 2015 film but also events that occurred between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens-since the release of that game, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a movie that has inspired heated passions for one reason or another, also released. While no gameplay has been shown, we know the third-person action will include intense lightsaber battles, melee and Force abilities, platforming, and puzzle-solving. But since this franchise is all about its mysteries, creators are keeping a lot of the story close to the vest until people play the game - like where exactly did Cal get his lightsaber, anyway?

But, Reilly adds, "the secrets pay off".
