Luke Walton faced a ton of rumors this year about his demise in Los Angeles.

The Kings and Walton started talks on Saturday, less than 24 hours after the coach's exit from the Lakers.

According to the report, the Cavaliers are expected to hold meetings with assistant coaches on teams taking part in the playoffs at a later date.

Williams previously was head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans from 2010-15, compiling a 173-221 record.

Should Willams take up the offer of coaching the Lakers, he would bring an excellent resumé with him.

Today, the Kings confirmed that Luke Walton will be their head coach moving forward.

The 47-year-old Williams has extensive coaching and front office experience.

Rumors that Walton would take the job swirled just as former head coach Dave Joerger was sacked on Thursday - after the team's best season in 13 years.

There is no doubt that if the Lakers can strike a deal to get Williams on board, then they will nearly certainly have an elite coach to guide them moving forward.

The terms of the deal have not been made public as per the team's rules.

The Lakers reportedly are focusing on Williams and former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue, and general manager Rob Pelinka plans to speak with each candidate in the near future, league sources told ESPN. The pair lifted the Larry O'Brien trophy in 2016 during James' incredible stretch of eight consecutive NBA Finals appearances.

"I will have to wait and see, honestly".
