Kyle Lowry ROASTED by National Basketball Association legend over dismal playoff record for Raptors

  • Rick Zamperin: Toronto Raptors show what they’re really made of

"Any time you go back and you look at something and now you've got the result of something, you say, 'Yeah, maybe it wasn't the right idea"'.

Leonard exploded for 37 points, four rebounds and four assists on 15-for-22 shooting from the field.

For more from the Raptors' blow out win, we have you covered with takeaways below. "Basically just making sure that we just play hard". It's only Game 2 of the playoffs, but Leonard has already put together one of the best Raptors postseason performances of all-time.

The domination was from the get-go as Toronto's All-Star forward scored or assisted on 17 of the team's first 26 points.

McCAW CLOSE: The Raptors really only used eight players on Saturday - less than three first-half minutes for Jodie Meeks had as much to do with two quick fouls on Danny Green as anything - but help may be coming. He's going to score, and in Game 2 he got hot - there's not much more he could've done on that end of the floor.

Though Leonard reveals virtually no emotion in his postgame remarks, his sparse comments offer insights into how he assembles the sort of performance that paced the Raptors on Tuesday night.

Following his Game 1 performance, Kyle Lowry was under severe scrutiny from basketball minds everywhere.

Lowry, who had been held scoreless in Game 1, collected the dribble-handoff from teammate Marc Gasol and drove into the body of the Magic's big man, hurling the ball over his shoulder at the rim as he tumbled toward the baseline.

The Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic meet Friday in game three of the National Basketball Association playoffs at the Amway Center.

The Raptors were playing off of Lowry's energy and the Scotiabank Arena crowd didn't hesitate to let their captain know he had their support, roaring on each and every bucket he scored. "The main thing I said going into the thing is, 'We need you to be our leader and be tough".

Toronto's quality first half built them a modest 12-point advantage with momentum on their side.

Led by Kawhi's 17 points in the quarter, the Magic's offence could not keep up with the Raptors. They also were just 9 of 14 from the charity stripe.

Pascal Siakam chipped in with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Serge Ibaka had 13 points. The Raptors led 90-66 with one quarter left to play.

But against Toronto went into the series against the Magic as heavy favourites to come away with a sweep. So if he can play that game every playoff game and make three of those, great.

Toronto's starting lineup has, through two games, been absolutely dominant, with a +49.7 net rating through 36 minutes of play.

As a team the Raptors appeared to have adopted his terrorizing defensive presence, forcing early turnovers and never really allowing the Magic into the game.

As Game 2 gets set to tip-off, the Magic will have to remember this and work to correct their mistakes from Game 1.

In a series of sentence fragments with little expression, Leonard verbally sketched the tactical decision-tree that empowered him, and the Raptors, to maintain control of a game in which they never trailed. The Magic won't have the scoring to help carry them tonight. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 211.5 points.

"We expect a great response from them", said Orlando centre Nikola Vucevic.

Aaron Gordon's 20 points were the sole bright spot for the Magic, as Evan Fournier's 10 points came on an ugly 4-for-12 shooting night where he went 2-for-7 from long range.

Lowry wasn't alone. On Tuesday, the Raptors embodied the best version of themselves - a versatile, veteran-savvy team featuring five elite defenders who can also slice you up offensively in the half court.
