The name Google Currents is not new for hardcore Google fans, as the company launched the News Magazine app with the same name back in 2011. This and other new G Suite updates were announced by Amy Lokey, VP of user experience for G Suite, speaking at the Google Cloud Next 2019 conference, in San Francisco.

For those using a G Suite account as their primary account it can be frustrating, today Google has removed one of those frustrations with G Suite Calendar integration coming to the Google Assistant.

It will work on Phones, Smart Speakers and Smart Displays, if you're a G Suite user why not ask Google "What's next on my calendar", it just might work now.

G Suite is Google's suite of collaborative productivity apps such as Gmail, Calendar and Drive, but also offers a number of business-grade services not included with Google's free consumer apps.

Hangouts Meet is G Suite's enterprise video conferencing software, and it too is getting more smarts with two new capabilities. Connected Sheets is also being released in beta.

A beta version of that integration is live now and it allows employees stuck in a meeting that's running long to schedule a follow-up meeting to the current meeting using a voice command. "With Google's AI built in, Voice can help you transcribe voicemails and block spam calls", the company said. Given the nature of the nature of the service, Google+ will also be up against Microsoft's Yammer.

This new announcement from Google is not surprisingly motivated by the company's choice to shut down Google Plus.

The final updates are focused on helping businesses to be more transparent while securing their data in G Suite.

It's been eight years since the inception of Google+ social networking, but it never got any positive response from the users. There's a ton of improvements and new tools Google has added to G Suite, so check out the official blog post to read all about them.
