Why 'Kalank' will be beyond commerce for Karan Johar

We got the first glimpse of upcoming film Kalank today and at an event to launch the film's teaser Karan Johar told reporters that with the release of Kalank he will fulfil his late father Yash Johar's dream, reported news agency IANS. I kept telling the story to everyone, insiders of the Dharma Productions' family.

On the film's inception, Karan said, "After the release of "Kal Ho Naa Ho" in 2003, I shared the story of "Kalank" with my father".

Directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Kalank boasts of an impressive multi-starrer cast bringing together the likes of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt.


In a progressive move towards gender parity, the teaser also depicted the actresses' names before the actors'.

When alleged former lovers Madhuri and Sanjay were sharing their experience of working with each other after so long, Varun jumped in and made a amusing revelation. " Kalank Teaser: Did You Notice This Blink-And-Miss Appearance of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit Together? It's been a wonderful journey". To this, she said, "Ek toh bohot dukhad baat hui thi tabhi hi and when I was approached to do this role, ek heavy heart tha tabhi". I have vast respect for her. She was a good artiste and a good human being too. Sonakshi added, "Kalank is about six people, their relationship, what they go through and what changes their life".
