Russell Westbrook-Fan Altercation, Thunder Guard Says It Was 'Racial'

I don't think it's fair to the players - not just to me, but I don't think it's fair to the players.

Miller also spoke to the players before she made her pregame address to the fans. Players and coaches on both teams can hear you, and we expect all fans to respect them-as well as the game officials, arena employees, and other fans at the arena. In response, Keisel is filing a lawsuit against Westbrook and shut down all of his social media accounts that were found to be filled with racist and derogatory language.

"I have been a Utah Jazz fan my entire life".

"And we all try to protect the league and I think that when it's an individual battle with a person in the crowd and they say something violently disrespectful like that, then it's gonna warrant a reaction", he continued. "I'll f- you up", to a pair of Jazz fans that directed "derogatory verbal abuse" toward the Thunder star during the game.

"In this business, to have our owner be so forward and out there and back us the way she did, it's unbelievable", Mitchell said after Thursday's game.

"Everyone who comes here, visiting teams included, deserves the right and the expectation to be treated with dignity at all times", she said. "I have never been in any trouble, never fought a fan, and been in the league 11 years and a clean slate", Westbrook said after the game.

Moments like these make it apparent that there's a vocal minority of fans who believe that since they bought a $110 ticket, they can treat these "rich" athletes however they see fit.

"I've heard it all, man", he said. Tensions boiled over on the floor after a hard foul led to some pushing and shoving, and then fans became involved - a drink was thrown at the Pacers' bench, prompting Metta World Peace (then known as Ron Artest) to climb into the stands.

Nothing to that extreme has happened since, though incidents between players and fans are hardly uncommon. The eight-time All-Star got in a pair of verbal altercations with Jazz fans in the series-clinching Game 6 loss a year ago when he swiped at a fan who was filming him leaving the court and yelled at another fan who confronted him at the tunnel. "If it is determined that any fans violated the NBA Code of Conduct, appropriate action will be taken".

It got even worse when footage surfaced the next day showing another Jazz fan referring to Westbrook as "boy" during the 2018 National Basketball Association playoffs.

"He had ice or heat, I said "sit down and ice your knees, bro", and he said "that's heat, that's heat".

The Thunder did not have any comment other than the statement Westbrook made to reporters after the game. It's truly disrespectful. Talk about your families, your kids. "And it's a big thing". He appeared to swat the phone out of a fan's hand following a loss in Game 6 of the Thunder's first round series against the Jazz last season.
