  • Air Raid Warning Sirens Go Off In Tel Aviv After Apparent Gaza Rocket Attack

The military said two rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip and it would provide further details later. One rocket was intercepted by the anti-missile Iron Dome system, according to media reports.

Israeli news media reported on rocket sirens blasting across Tel Aviv as well as the satellite cities of Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Bat Yam, Holon, Azor and Rishon Letzion.

Following the rocket fire, Hamas evacuated all its headquarters in the Gaza Strip in anticipation of a possible retaliation by Israeli military.

PM Netanyahu is on his way to the Kirya (IDF Central Command) in Tel Aviv to meet with the IDF Chief of Staff. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Hamas denied involvement for the rocket salvo, which it said took place as its leaders met Egyptian delegates about efforts to secure a long-term ceasefire with Israel.

The Israeli military says air raid warning sirens were triggered in Tel Aviv around 3:10 p.m. EST.

Israel's municipality announced that public bomb shelters in the Tel Aviv area would be opened. "The time has come to defeat Hamas once and for all", he said. They include Salafists inspired by the Islamic State group, as well as Islamic Jihad, an Iranian-backed armed organization that also possesses a formidable rocket arsenal.

Around 200 Palestinians have been killed in the demonstrations and about 60 other Palestinians have died in other incidents, including exchanges of fire across the border.
