Lisa Page: Yeah, Obama's DOJ Killed the Prosecution of Hillary Clinton

  • FBI agent Peter Strzok testifies before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees

Page exchanged thousands of text messages with her lover and then-top FBI agent Peter Strzok about the investigations into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Trump 2016 campaign.

"When you have the. corrupt triumvirate of [former FBI Agent Peter] Strzok, [former FBI Deputy Director Andrew] McCabe and Page, when they have been involved from day one from the email controversy, through the original Russian Federation investigation, through the appointment of [Special Counsel Robert] Mueller, this just shows that there is a two-tiered system", Collins said.

"But they were the personal communications, not the work ones", added Strzok, who acknowledged having an extramarital affair with Page.

The document dump was part of a major release by House Judiciary Committee Republicans, who on Tuesday released hundreds of pages of transcripts from last year's closed-door interview with Page, revealing new details about the bureau's controversial internal discussions regarding an "insurance policy" against then-candidate Donald Trump.

"I am aware of senior Federal Bureau of Investigation officials talking to subordinate Federal Bureau of Investigation officials on the Hillary Clinton investigative team who unquestionably had anti-Hillary sentiment, but who also said: 'You have to get her, or - again I don't have an exact quote - but like we're counting on you, you know, '" Page testified.

Lynch said a team of career members of the Justice Department and FBI will present her with recommendations on how to proceed once the investigation has concluded and that she plans to accept the guidance. Page left the team before the text messages were discovered. Collins said on the House floor Thursday that he meant to release additional transcripts from that GOP-led probe in the weeks ahead, in the name of transparency.

The Strzok transcript is the third set Mr. Collins has released, following ones from Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and Ms. Page herself. Strzok said he made the counterargument, that if Trump won and people alleged to be involved in nefarious activity were put in national security positions, "we might need to protect America by finding out whether these allegations are accurate or not and making sure that the government, President Trump in that case, was making special - or appropriate decisions".

Page provided a similar explanation during her own closed-door interview, saying how she had urged caution in the investigation because if Trump didn't win, there was less of a national security concern. "You know, that's monumental". "It is like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you're 40".
