Dozens of people laid flowers at cordons near both mosques in Christchurch, which is still rebuilding after an natural disaster in 2011 killed nearly 200 people.

She asserted that New Zealand "will not and can not be shaken" by this attack.

The nationalities of the victims included Indian, Pakistani, Malaysian, Indonesian, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Saudi, Somalian and Turkish, authorities said.

Her father Waseem, 33, the brother of Mr Daraghmeh, is said to be in a stable condition.

"I still don't know where he is", she said.

New Zealand citizens as young as 16, provided they pass a background check to get a firearms license, can possess a long gun. While interpretation of Islamic law regarding burials varies, burying a person as soon as possible after death is a fundamental principal of Islam, usually no more than 24 hours later.
