"So people are like 'oh it's unrealistic, oh it's vague, oh it doesn't address this little, minute thing.' And I'm like you try, you do it". A report from the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel found that devastation from climate change could be seen as early as 2030.

When the students told her she has to listen to them because they voted for them, Feinstein challenged one student on her age until she admitted she was 16.

A group of Bay Area kids said Saturday they're "disappointed" with Sen. "I don't respond to that", Feinstein continued.

"Unfortunately, it was a brief meeting, but I want to the children to know they were heard loud and clear", Feinstein wrote.

"This morning I spoke with a small group of children, young adults and parents from the Sunrise Movement, who were delivering a letter in support of the Green New Deal resolution".

They instead rallied outside her San Francisco office Friday when Feinstein happened to walk passed them, Cina-Sklar said. Dianne Feinstein and some middle school and high school students turned unexpectedly awkward for the 85-year-old Democrat on Friday.

"That resolution will not pass the Senate, and you can take that back to whoever sent you here and tell them", Feinstein told the children. Dianne Feinstein's response one day after their heated exchange over climate change was recorded on a cell phone and went viral. "I've gotten elected. I just ran".

"And it does lead, I think, young people to have a legitimate question, you know, 'Is it okay to still have children?'"

Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described Democratic socialist, has made climate change a signature issue, introducing the so-called Green New Deal with Massachusetts Democratic Sen.

To which Feinstein said, "Well you didn't vote for me". "I know what I'm doing", said a feisty Feinstein.

Sunrise Movement accused Feinstein of responding to the children with "smugness" and 'disrespect'.

The senator went on to say that she doesn't agree with what the proposed Green New Deal says - it calls to rid the USA of its carbon footprint by 2030 by having 100 per cent of the country's power needs met through renewable energy - and said a separate resolution, which calls for a longer timeline to hike back emissions, according to the New York Times, had a better chance of passing. "And then you can do it your way".

"(She) will do an internship here", Feinstein tells a staff member, after asking for the woman's name. "I have been and remain committed to doing everything I can to enact real, meaningful climate change legislation".

The freshman NY lawmaker also took a shot at California Democratic Sen.

Bloomberg reports that Ocasio-Cortez's far-left plan would "tally between $51 trillion and $93 trillion over 10-years, concludes American Action Forum, which is run by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who directed the non-partisan CBO from 2003 to 2005".
