As a result, it will soon lay off roughly 10 percent of its workforce, leaving the company with around 6,000 employees.

"Starship test flight rocket just finished assembly at the SpaceX Texas launch site", Musk wrote in a tweet.

Later that month, he was sued by a British caver who had helped rescue 12 boys trapped in Thailand after Musk called him a "pedo guy" and a "child rapist" after his proposal to use his miniature submarine to extract the boys was rejected.

"This means we must part ways with some talented and hardworking members of our team", the statement continued.

The Los Angeles Times was first to break the news.

In June, 2018, Elon Musk fired at least seven people in the senior management team leading a SpaceX satellite launch project, Reuters reported in November. Led by CEO Elon Musk and CFO Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's headquarters are in Hawthorne, California.

As reported by a billionaire, the first flight to Mars with a crew and hundreds of passengers would be possible in the middle of the 2020-ies, but on the condition that the development vehicle will be a success.

The rocket and space systems consist of two parts: the Starship - the spacecraft or the upper stage, and the Super Heavy - the rocket accelerator (the more powerful analog of the first stage, the Falcon 9). Starship, the forward-looking concept thought to be the future of the company's space exploration ambitions, has appeared in brief teases as it slowly inches its way towards testing.

SpaceX Chief Operating Officer, Gwynne Shotwell, said in a TED Talk past year that she expects deploying Starlink constellation satellites to cost $10 billion or more. While at Washburn, he was the managing editor of the student run newspaper, the Washburn Review.

If the test launches go well, SpaceX could be ready to launch NASA astronauts to the International Space Station by midyear.

This particular model will be used to test short launches and landings. Today, this fervor has accelerated toward orbit and shows no signs of slowing down.
