  • Meghan Markle faces scrutiny in British media

The Duchess of Sussex set out her royal manifesto today as she announced her patronage of organisations promoting women, animals, education and the arts.

She will also become patron of the National Theatre, a role handed down to her from the Queen.

Chief executive Kate Stephens said: "We are delighted that the Duchess of Sussex is our royal patron".

Along with her rumored rift with the Duchess of Cambridge, the "Suits" actress was also bothered by an article published by Vanity Fair that portrayed her as a social climber.

"The Duchess is delighted to become Patron of both national and grassroots organisations that are part of the fabric of the United Kingdom, and is very much looking forward to working with them to bring wider public attention to their causes", they added.

In a statement from Kensington Palace, it says: "As a university graduate, Her Royal Highness is a strong advocate of accessible education for all, something she spoke of most recently during her visit to Fiji previous year". "The support of The Duchess of Sussex will help us enormously in achieving this goal".

The Duchess has already met with women who have benefited from Smart Works, a charity which helps long-term unemployed and vulnerable women get back into work. "Mayhew works to improve the lives of dogs, cats and the people in our community, tackling the root cause of animal abandonment and neglect and supporting vulnerable people to stay with their companion pets".

An image reportedly showing the new bucolic hideaway of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has surfaced.

In her first high-profile, solo charity project, Meghan collaborated with women at the Hubb Community Kitchen in West London on a charity cookbook that quickly became a bestseller. "By showing a consistent interests in certain issues they can create a significant impact in that area".

And now, over 12 hours later, Kensington Palace has revealed the news itself.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been spending much of the time since their May 2018 nuptials on the road, jet-setting everywhere from Fiji to Australia to New Zealand.

The announcement of Meghan's official patronages comes as she prepares for a busy 2019.
