The Yolo County district attorney's office had charged Limbaugh with a felony but later reduced it to a misdemeanor as part of a plea deal in October.

The note left by Kevin Douglas Limbaugh of Davis, Calif., was released after Davis police identified the 48-year-old as the man who fatally shot Corona during the officer's response to a auto collision Thursday night.

Inside the suspects Davis home, detectives also found two semi-automatic handguns, a 9 mm and a.45-caliber, one partially hidden in a shoe. Firefighters were at the scene-their department was near where it happened-and had tried to save her, Pytel said.

The gunman who ambushed and killed a California cop left behind a letter ranting about how police were targeting him with "ultra sonic waves", authorities said.

Limbaugh had been ordered last fall to surrender a semiautomatic weapon after a battery case in which he was accused of punching a co-worker in the face, the Sacramento Bee reported. I notified the press and internal affairs and even the Federal Bureau of Investigation about it.

Limbaugh wrote police targeted him with ultrasonic waves for years, saying "I can't live this way anymore". She had only been patrolling solo for about two weeks, the chief said.

On Thursday evening, Corona, 22, had responded to a crash involving three vehicles at 5th and D streets, taking information from drivers, when witnesses said a man rolled up on a bicycle and began to shoot at Corona. In July, after graduating from the Sacramento Police Academy, Corona was sworn in as Davis officer.

Police Chief Darren Pytel described the shooting as an ambush.

After shooting Corona, Limbaugh shot at other people on the scene, including a fire fighter whose boot was hit by a bullet and a woman, whose backpack was hit. He emerged a second time with a gun before retreating.

Police eventually sent a robotic camera in and found the gunman had shot himself in the head.

Corona started at the Davis Police Department as a part-time employee in 2016, when she was a junior college student.

Corona's father, Merced, is a retired Colusa County sheriff's sergeant in California.
