Google Assistant on Track to Soon Hit a Billion Devices Milestone

Google has announced a platform aimed at building its Google Assistant tool into more third-party devices, as it ramps up its presence at this week's CES conference in Las Vegas to compete with Amazon's Alexa.

For the U.S. consumers, Google is introducing a couple of new features in the Assistant that will enable them to do a lot more than just search for flights.

On smartphone devices, Google would also allow Google Assistant to help users even f the devices are locked.

Interestingly, the company also said that "earlier speaker models" will be updated to "work" with the Assistant, so owners of, say, the Play:1, Play:5, Playbase or Playbar could be in luck.

Next, in an update rolling out today, Google is giving the Assistant much deeper hooks into Google Maps so you can do thing things like share your ETA, text hands free, or play a podcast just by asking the Assistant, all without ever needing to leave the Google Maps app.

Whirlpool previewed its new KitchenAid Smart Display with the Google Assistant at CES. Google Assistant will arrive on Google Maps for Android and iOS starting this week, expanding the reach and availability of the voice-enabled assistant by significant magnitude.

At CES 2019, Google yesterday announced a number of new partnerships and features for Google Assistant.

Google has added support for 22 new languages and 66 countries, which makes the Assistant available in total of 30 languages and 80 countries.

Search engine giant Google has made huge strides in terms technological advancement in terms of deep learning and machine learning to make its Google Assistant for smartphones and speakers.

Google's vice president of Google Assistant Manuel Bronstein acknowledged the company has a very large footprint on Android devices.

The Lenovo Smart Clock has a four-inch touchscreen and users can see alarm suggestions based on your daily routines and control other smart home devices, Google said. For example, you can say "Hey Google, take me home", to open Google Maps and get directions for your commute.

One caveat: the property must belong to a participating major brand, such as Choice Hotels, AccorHotels, and InterContinental Hotels Group, or bookable via Priceline and Expedia. The main aim of the Interpreter mode is not just to translate but also to encourage people to converse with others who do not speak the same language without the awkwardness.
