  • Driver who crashed while blindfolded was participating in ‘Bird Box Challenge’

No injuries were initially reported, Fox 13 reports.

Police in Layton, Utah, say a 17-year-old girl was driving blindfolded when she lost control and crashed into another vehicle.

Police officers said the 17-year-old drifted into oncoming traffic and hit another auto after pulling a hat over her eyes.

The streamer previously issued a warning against participating in the "Bird Box Challenge", which involves performing often risky stunts while blindfolded. Police say the young woman in question had pulled her hat over her eyes while she was driving, which resulted in the crash.

Layton Police Department shared images of two badly damaged vehicles on Twitter explaining that the collision was the "predictable result" of the "Bird Box" challenge, in which people are called to do everyday tasks blindfolded.

According to the Layton City Police Department, the unnamed 17-year-old and her 16-year-old passenger were driving down a major thoroughfare in town when the older teen decided it was the flawless time to play-act Bird Box.

Have you seen Bird Box? It shows the vlogger walking into heavy traffic and driving a auto blindfolded.

"Honestly, I'm nearly embarrassed to have to say "Don't drive with your eyes covered", but you know apparently we do have to say that. It really puts everybody at risk", said Travis Lyman of the Layton police.

"Can't believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE", Netflix tweeted on January 2.

Police are reportedly weighing reckless driving charges against the teen.

Earlier this month, Netflix warned its viewers against the "Bird Box" challenge.
