Criminal Minds is now more than halfway through Season 14, which is supposed to end on a much happier note than Season 15's ominous beginning: Rossi (Joe Mantegna) is heading down the aisle.

Criminal Minds is hanging in there for one more - albeit final - season. It was clear that CBS had a major hit on its hands. "It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television. But they respect this series and the cast and the crew and the fans enough to end this properly". It has been successful not only on air but online, in syndication, internationally for ABC [Studios]'.

It follows a group of behavioral profilers who work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as members of its Behavioral Analysis Unit. The final arc will also feature a "worthy adversary" for the team.

"Criminal Minds", produced by ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios, is now in production on its 14th season, which brought the long-running drama past the 300-episode mark back in October.

It's hard to think of saying goodbye to a beloved show like Criminal Minds, especially since it's been on air for almost 15 years.

"We wanted to make sure Erica had the time and ability to write a season (14) finale that honors the characters and the fans", Reisenbach said. "I would love to be able to see this brand live on for a very long time".

Even so, Messer expects the series finale to be a "tearjerker". Messer said there are no plans for a tragic ending. "So my guess is tearjerker more than anything else, that's how I'd describe it". "So the jet won't crash, I can tell you that".

At 15 Seasons, "Criminal Minds" will join some of the longest-running series in TV history, matching both "ER" and "CSI".
