  • Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Boeing and the French may all fly to space today

"This abort was triggered by the onboard Falcon 9 flight computer", a SpaceX official narrating the launch sequence said, adding that SpaceX would attempt the launch on Wednesday morning. The blue origin is launching about 19 minutes later than that of Space X. and the third is most probably scheduled at 11:37 am by the Eastern Standard Time.

SpaceX is the first one on the launchpad with a Falcon 9 rocket scheduled to take off at 9:11 a.m. local time from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying a next-generation navigation satellite was grounded Tuesday because of a last-minute technical snag.

You can watch the ULA launch live on Space.com, courtesy of ULA, beginning at about 8:24 p.m. EST (0124 GMT). The Space Command would be separate from Trump's plans for an independent military branch, Space Force, but could support those efforts, too.

SpaceX scored the contract for the satellite following the settlement of its lawsuit against the Air Force, which argued for more competitive bidding contracts.

Four different companies have rocket launches slated for 18 December: Elon Musk's SpaceX, Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin, France's Arianespace and United Launch Alliance, the joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Weather forced a cancelation of what would be the company's tenth New Shephard mission, which "is dedicated to bringing nine NASA-sponsored research and technology payloads into space through NASA's Flight Opportunities program".

"We are scrubbing today's #NewShepard launch due to a ground infrastructure issue". SpaceX first halted the launch on Tuesday due to the same technical warning with its sensor.

"I attended my first launch here at Kennedy Space Center 15 years ago and the most important thing is that we got that rocket up safely and securely and it achieves its mission", Pence said.

They said the rocket remains ready and they will look at moving the launch to Wednesday. The satellite is nicknamed "Vespucci" after America's namesake explorer Amerigo Vespucci.

Finally, a Russian Soyuz spacecraft will return to Earth with three members of the International Space Station's crew tonight.
