  • Sandra Oh, Andy Samberg to co-host Globes

Sandra Oh, star of the acclaimed BBC America drama Killing Eve, and Andy Samberg, star of NBC's comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, will cohost the annual telecast.

"Sandra and Andy are the flawless choices to host this world-class event", said Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, the co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment, in a statement.

The duo won praise on social media for their chemistry presenting at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Golden Globes, chosen by members of the small Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), are the first major ceremony in Hollywood's long awards season culminating with the Oscars on February 24.

The outlet also reported that as things got down to the wire, 'there was even a point where many suggested that the 2019 Golden Globes have no host at all'. Samberg is a former Saturday Night Live cast member and a Golden Globe victor for television comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The Killing Eve star and the Brooklyn Nine-Nine comedian will follow in the footsteps of this year's host, Seth Meyers, next January.

Meher Tatna serves as president of the HFPA.

According to E! the 2019 show will debut a new award 'measuring 11.5 inches tall, 3.75 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep.

The Golden Globes had aired without a host for decades until NBC in 2010 tapped Ricky Gervais for the job. NBC has hosted the Globes broadcast for the last 23 years. That was down slightly from the 2017 show to a six-year demo low, but still ranked as the most watched awards show since the Oscars. Previously, Oh starred as Dr. Cristina Yang on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy", for which she also received five Emmy nominations. NBC picked it up a few days later.
