  • Mortal Kombat 11 Revealed at The Game Awards, Beta and Pre-Order Bonus To Come Soon

Ed Boon took to the stage at The Game Awards to reveal Mortal Kombat 11, which is coming on April 23rd for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Mortal Kombat 11 isn't afraid to shed a little blood in its cinematic reveal.

The original Mortal Kombat was first released in 1992 and has seen 10 major releases since.

After E3 2018 came and went without any word from developer NetherRealm Studios, many thought that any hope for a new Mortal Kombat was premature. Firstly, Mortal Kombat 11 will introduce an all new custom character variation system, giving players the ability to customize their fighters and make them their own.

The press release pins the Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay debut at "Mortal Kombat 11: The Reveal", a community celebration of the franchise which will take place at 11:00 AM PST on January 17, 2019 in Los Angeles and 7:00 PM UTC in London. The new graphics engine showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment, brings you so close to the fight you can feel it.

A lot of announcements were made recently at The Game Awards, and one of the most influential fighting game franchises in history chose to become a part of it. Just about everything short of an X-ray attack was teased in the CGI fight, which can hopefully be one mechanic to be dropped from Mortal Kombat X.

Those who preorder the game will also get Shao Kahn as a playable character along with access to the games beta.
