  • Xiaomi Releases AirDots Wireless Earbuds With Bluetooth 5.0

Xiaomi at its launch event has promoted the new AirDots Youth Edition as being immune to frequent disconnections.

Bottom line: True wireless earbuds are becoming an increasingly popular category in the world of audio products, but most of these devices are quite expensive. The Xiaomi AirDots also have touch controls on the side of the buds and come with the now standard charging case. Xiaomi, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, is just one of many creating AirPods lookalikes, but this particular set of earbuds may even outshine its American twin, based on details of the product appearing in The Verge. But one doubt I'm going to have about this device is the fact that it might not be able to rival the Apple AirPods because of the price range....well that's not the conclusion. On the outside of the headphones is a sensor, which you can use to control playback and volume, call voice assistant, taking calls and so on.

Xiaomi sports Bluetooth v5.0 on the Mi AirDots Youth Edition. It is available for pre-order in China on Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin, Tmall, Jingdong, and Suning. The Mi AirDots Youth Edition ships with 7.2 mm audio drivers, which is capable of producing not only deep bass but also premium stereo audio. A feature that's available on Bluetooth 5.0 that's not present on the previous version is dual audio support. They can be recharged three times with the built-in battery in the case, and that's where the "up to 12 hours listening" blurb during travels comes from. Said pairing is automatic once you remove them from the charging/carry box, too, as long as you've gone through the initial pairing process. The surface of both earbuds is touch-sensitive and can be used to execute actions like play/pause music, handle calls, and more.
