President of the year: Trump says he is doing a great job

  • President Trump at the White House in Washington D.C. on Friday. More

"We're all together", Wallace told the president, explaining it didn't matter if he was referring to CNN, The New York Times or Fox News.

"I don't think anybody's done more than me" for veterans, said Trump, adding that he gave himself an "A-plus" rating as president.

Trump told Wallace he was unaware of Whitaker's past remarks about the Mueller investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation when he appointed Whitaker to replace Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice.

Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace took on the president over his anti-media rhetoric in a feisty exchange, during an exclusive interview.

Mr Trump said "nobody believes in the First Amendment more than I do" and maintained he did not believe all media is the "enemy", but only outlets that he considers "fake news".

A trio of incoming House freshman on Sunday said President Trump should have visited Arlington National Cemetery instead of focusing on other business last Monday, when Veterans Day was observed as a federal holiday. "I have great people working at the White House. I don't mind getting bad news if I'm wrong", he said, then going on to clarify that his anger toward the media wasn't really targeting Wallace.

"I think North Korea's been very tough because you know we were very close".

"Look at Florida", Trump said.

"I could have done that, [but] as you know I just left the day before the American Cemetery and I probably think - and that was one where it was raining as hard as you can imagine - and I made a speech at the American Cemetery the day before", Trump said.

"In my opinion he would have lost".

Wallace said: "But you're seen around the world as a beacon for repression".

"No, no, no, I'm not calling you -" Trump further continued.

He said Mr. Trump has been attentive to Gold Star families who've lost relatives in battle and lobbied for higher pay and better funding for the military.
