  • An Actual ‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Is Starting Production This Bloody Month

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Breaking Bad series creator Gilligan is developing a feature-length film set in the Breaking Bad universe.

As reported by the Albuquerque Journal, according to the New Mexico Film Office, a production now titled "Greenbrier" will "begin production in the Duke City mid-November through early February". We'll be sure to let you know when we find out that information.

Breaking Bad ran on AMC from 2008 to 2013 for a total of five seasons.

If true, "Greenbriar" joins a clutch of TV shows making the transition to a feature-length film format.

Gilligan is attached as screenwriter and executive producer, and may even step up to direct as well. Now, fans' favourite Breaking Bad will be revived as a film.

The film is said to be a Sony Studios production about a kidnapped man's quest for freedom. "Yes, there appears to be a movie version of Breaking Bad but I honestly haven't even read the script", Cranston said, adding: "I have not gotten the script".

The Emmy Award-winning series was set and filmed in Albuquerque for six years.

Cranston said he would "absolutely" be in the movie "if Vince Gilligan asked me". But the Albuquerque Journal got a scoop this week when they confirmed, through the New Mexico Film Office, that a movie called Greenbrier is headed into production in the area early next year.

Details on the proposed project are now scarce, and it's not yet clear whether the film is being planned for a theatrical or television debut. Partly thanks to the excellent Better Call Saul spin-off, but also partly to the vague ending that didn't quite offer a full-stop to Walter White's story, the brand endures.

Besides Paul's return, other details - namely, will the film see Bryan Cranston reprise his iconic role as Walter White? - are yet to emerge.

Gilligan's current project, Better Call Saul, chronicling Saul Goodman's small-time lawyer who takes his own journey into criminal activities, is up to its fifth season, airing in 2019.

It seems as though AMC wants to create giant spinoffs of their most famous projects, and I am not buying it so far.
