Kyrie Irving, Celtics rally from 22 down to top Suns in OT

  • Celtics point guard Terry Rozier is reportedly coveted by a number of teams in need of help at point guard

Simply put, Boston is the much better team and, given the fact that the Celtics were 10-point favorites in Las Vegas for the battle between the two teams on Thursday evening, expectations were in line with that.

In the first half of the game between the Boston Celtics and the Phoenix Suns, Kyrie Irving was the only starter to score in the first half.

Booker scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and seven in OT, but Phoenix couldn't hold onto a 16-point lead with 6:13 to play in regulation.

Then, things started getting weird. He averaged 11.3 points and started 19 games in the playoffs for Boston last season.

That left Morris wide open to get the ball back from Irving and drill a game-tying 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds remaining on the clock, sending the massive contingent of Celtics fans at Talking Stick Resort Arena into a frenzy.

Warren, starting for the first time since October 31, scored 14 first-quarter points as the Suns took advantage of Boston's shooting woes.

Once the game hit overtime, Irving took over. Phoenix led 32-13 after 12 minutes.

"I told Igor we didn't deserve to win the game, but it was a great individual performance by Kyrie, certainly", Celtics coach Brad Stevens said.

The Celtics trailed 55-35 at the break.

"I'm taking a picture, the Suns got a lead". The other four starters - Brown, Gordon Hayward, Al Horford and Tatum - missed all 15 of their shots. His defensive stops disrupted the Suns, while his shooting made all the difference for him and the rest of the Celtics. Ten games into the season, Rozier has played only 22.7 minutes per game, not only behind Irving but also fellow point guard Marcus Smart.

Suns: At the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.
