England give injury updates and it's not good news for Curry

  • Beauden Barrett was a member of the 23-strong contingent that travelled to London early to prepare for the upcoming test against England on Sunday morning

Jones was the darling of English rugby after winning 25 of his first 26 tests in charge, but is now under fire after England lost five matches in a row this year.

Hansen was impressed by how Jones managed to prepare a depleted England side to upset South Africa 12-11 last weekend.

Jones is "cautiously optimistic" that Manu Tuilagi and Courtney Lawes will recover from respective groin and back problems in time for Saturday but Tom Curry appears to be losing his battle with an ankle issue.

The New Zealand Herald says that Ben Smith and Brodie Retallick were among a group of All Blacks who passed up the chance to receive free tickets from the Rugby Football Union (RFU), and instead slipped into Twickenham to sit among fans and "get some intelligence on the enemy they will face on Saturday".

"So you'll probably find people that are close to those players and family that might support it, then you'd have others with a different view on players jumping into a national team from another country so quickly".

"And if you look at our overall numbers, we're actually overall pretty good".

"There is a lot of pressure there all the time".

"Talking to Eddie, I know he and England are very excited about this game, and we are, too", Hansen said on Monday.

"We had a meeting with the senior players last night (Sunday) and have a pretty good idea how we want to play against New Zealand".

Asked if such moves are generally respected within the sport, Foster said: "I don't know; I think everyone's going to have mixed opinions on that".

"The Lions put a lot of pressure on the All Blacks in areas they didn't enjoy and were able to get them off rhythm and off tempo. It's disappointing but whenever there's an injury it is an opportunity for you as a player to improve and get better".

"He's had some success against New Zealand in the past, but hopefully he doesn't get any on Saturday", Hansen said of Jones.

"We've got a lot of options there", added the former England captain. Obviously. It wouldn't matter if he were bullish or not. "They do it in rugby league in Australia". "So it makes them a good side".
