Having the base game be free for a limited time is certainly a good way to drum up interest, especially since the PC community is far smaller than on consoles. This does not, of course, include the Forsaken expansion, but it includes all of the content up to that point.

In celebration of its annual BlizzCon gaming convention, Blizzard is giving away Destiny 2 for free on its Battle.net service from today through November 18th. Destiny 2 is also out on PS4 and Xbox One. Once you have claimed the gift, open the Battle.net client and click on the Destiny 2 tab to start downloading. Activision and Bungie have announced that Destiny 2 is available to download for free on the PC until November 18th.

"As Destiny fans, we were excited to learn that the sequel was coming to PC", said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment at the time.

You don't exactly need a gaming PC to run Destiny 2, but your netbook probably isn't going to cut it. If you aren't getting the gift notification, you can go here.

Disclosure: Blizzard sponsored the correspondent's flights and hotel for BlizzCon 2018.
