Vijay's Sarkar has finally given up under the enormous pressure from the ruling AIADMK and its makers have agreed to edit parts of the movie seen critical of the ruling party, and former chief minister J Jayalalithaa who died in 2016.

After the protest of ADMK cadres, team Sarkar has agreed to remove the controversial scene in the film.

After removing the scene featuring Murugadoss and muting the character name of Varalakshmi, the film has been recensored and uploaded on the QUBE. "The scenes that are critical of government schemes will not be there in the matinee show tomorrow", he added. They are alleging that certain scenes in the movie criticize the previous Tamil Nadu Govt led by J Jayalalithaa.

Law Minister C Ve Shanmugham said certain scenes amounted to inciting violence and warned of action.

Like the superstar, universal hero Kamal Haasan too came in support of "Sarkar" movie. He too tweeted that a government that can't accept criticism can go off the tangent. The film released on 3000 screens, with Kerala - which is one of the strongest regions for actor Vijay - screening 1763 shows on Day 1.Sarkar is the second highest opener in India with Thugs of Hindostan, which released on Thursday, on numero uno position with an opening collection of Rs 52.25 crore. AR Murugadoss moved the Madras High Court on Friday which has given him protection from arrest till November 27.

The AIADMK was up in arms against "Sarkar" with senior AIADMK ministers demanding deletion of the contentious scenes, besides threatening to initiate legal action if the film crew failed to comply.
