The procedural vote to start debate on Kavanaugh's nomination in the full Senate is set to take place at 10:30 a.m., which would clear the way for a final vote on Saturday afternoon. The protests that have gained the most media attention involve activists trapping Republican senators in elevators and questioning them about their vote on Kavanaugh.

Comedienne Amy Schumer and model Emily Ratajkowski posted on their Instagram accounts about how they were arrested while protesting. Moments later, Flake, much to the delight of his Democrat colleagues, called for a week's delay in Kavanaugh's vote to allow the FBI to investigate the allegations against him.

Kavanaugh has vigorously denied the accusations.
