Stephen King Pet Sematary trailer here to fur-eak you out

  • Pet Sematary Trailer: What’s Dead Should Stay Dead

Now it's being remade with Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer behind the camera, and a script from Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train), and based on the trailer above, the new Pet Sematary is going for A Quiet Place meets creepy kids meets evil cats (so, every cat) vibe. Quick cuts add up to a lingering spine-tingle in the second adaptation of Stephen King's horror classic.

The story is simple: there's a ancient burial ground in the woods behind the Creed family's new home that brings anything buried there back to life. Opening on Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz), and their two children Ellie (Jeté Laurence) and Gage (Hugo and Lucas Lavoie) driving down a road lined with lush trees, the trailer explains that the Creeds have moved from the bustling city of Boston to rural Maine. She made a lasting impression on readers and audiences everywhere, and while she can't be spotted in this trailer, she will definitely appear in the Pet Sematary remake - and in a much better way. This is the second time eastern Canada has filled in for ME in a King movie in recent years; both the "IT" remake and its upcoming sequel were filmed in Port Hope, Ontario. That's true for horror movies, and especially so if it's a King property.

Here's the first trailer, and it looks like a good'un. The latest spooky story to get the remake treatment is Mary Lambert's 1989 Pet Sematary, based on King's 1983 novel. Pet Sematary releases in April, 2019.
