October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and while breast cancer is most often diagnosed in older women, college students, both male and female, should be aware of the causes and signs of this deadly disease.

Walk-ins will be accommodated as able. One way to educate patients could be to recommend podcasts about breast cancer.

This year's "Human Pink Ribbon" will be formed at ConnextCare Pulaski 61 Delano St., beginning at 10 a.m. When lying on their side, women should repeat the circular motion they used in the shower and then squeeze their nipples to check for discharge and lumps. One out of every nine women is at the risk of breast cancer, the prevalence of which is the highest amongst all cancers in Pakistan, they added.

The breasts also contain lymph vessels and these vessels lead to small, round organs called lymph nodes and they are located near the breast in the axilla (armpit), above the collarbone, in the chest behind the breastbone and in many other parts of the body. Five-year survival rates are close to 100 percent if the disease is detected early, according to the American Cancer Society. The best defense is to find it early and treat it while it is small.

Our nation spends more money on breast cancer research than any other type of cancer. still, many women are confused about the basics.

"What I tell people is that, on average, it takes people seven tries before they quit smoking", he said.

"These grassroots efforts help residents become more aware of when and where to seek early detection for cancer, how to proceed when cancer is diagnosed, how to navigate through an increasingly complex health care system and where to turn for community resources and support for survivors", she said.

Results: "We were surprised by the insights the estimates provided into how the risk of recurrence for women diagnosed with early breast cancer in the United States varies with stage, HR status, age, year of diagnosis, and time since diagnosis", Mariotto said.

The Baptist Breast Center will be raising awareness for breast cancer at the Paint the Parkway Pink event this Saturday. In fact, mammograms have been shown to improve survival rates by 35% in women over the age 50. Apart from being hereditary, many other risk factors like sedentary lifestyle, bingeing on alcohol, smoking, increasing obesity among youngsters, stress and poor dietary intake have been attributed to increase in the incidences of breast cancer among the young Indian women.

When treatment is working for a patient who is fighting cancer, the light at the end of the tunnel is easier to see.
