  • Here's 'Something Bold' Democrats Can Do: Conduct the Kavanaugh Probe White House and GOP Refused to Have

Susan Collins (R-Maine) is "insulting" Christine Blasey Ford by saying she believes the psychology professor was sexually assaulted by someone other than newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

"This vote is a complete betrayal of ME voters, of the women who have called her offices, and written letters, and organized phone banks, and attended rallies, and told their very deeply painful stories to her and her staff". Susan Collins said on the Senate floor.

Crowdpac tweeted that it's secured pledges for more than $3 million for Collins' future opponent.

On the subject of Kavanaugh, she told reporters the supplemental Federal Bureau of Investigation reports that she pushed for, along with GOP Sens.

"While we are in these sort of times where we are having hard conversations and people are really split, you don't get to be moderate or a centrist anymore when you have moved forward this guy who acted the way he acted, and to me he is nearly a caricature of white male privilege", Ms. Lynn said.

Collins of ME said Ford's testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee was "heart-wrenching" but added that Kavanaugh also passionately denied her accusations.

Collins said it was clear to her that Kavanaugh drank in high school. And if she's willing, she should give testimony too.

'I have reservations about this vote, ' he said in a statement, but 'based on all the information I have available to me, including the recently completed Federal Bureau of Investigation report, I have found Judge Kavanaugh to be a qualified jurist who will follow the Constitution and determine cases based on the legal findings before him'.

Still, Republicans and even some Democrats have continued to doubt her memory of the alleged incident, citing the lack of "corroborating" witnesses from the party. "I mean, that is a devastating allegation", said Collins.

She also "didn't speak to about 30 protesters gathered in front of her home in Bangor" on Sunday.

On a stop at CNN during her cable news tour, Collins was dismissive of Rice.

Rice has a home in ME, a source said, and her family has ties to the state: Her mother, an education policy expert who was instrumental in the creation of the Pell Grant, was born there. Rice is weighing whether to try to unseat Republican Sen.

Susan Collins of ME isn't up for re-election until 2020, but critics vowed today she'll pay a political price for voting for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

She's a controversial figure in the world of politics.

In an appearance Sunday, Ms. Collins said she wasn't backing down.

"In one case - and we are going to turn this over to the police, but unfortunately, of course, the person didn't leave a name or number - but they actually threatened to rape one of my young female staffers", she said. "I think it's the end of whatever legacy she has worked so hard to achieve as a moderate", Amy Halsted, co-director of Maine People's Alliance, which helped start the fundraiser, told Rolling Stone.

"As I watch numerous Senators speak and vote on the floor of the Senate I feel like I'm right back at Yale where half the room is laughing and looking the other way".
