  • Seann Walsh the celebrity contestant who is in a long term relationship and Katya Jones who is married to a professional dancer on the show were filmed in a romantic clinche in the street outside a London pub last week

Ruth, who competed on Strictly previous year, said: "Having been in Strictly, I saw that and thought how awkward for everybody and how humiliating for their partners".

The publication of the photos of the pair's kiss in a Sunday newspaper led Walsh's girlfriend to end their relationship.

The pair will be dancing a very upbeat Charleston to Lunchmoney Lewis's Bills, the BBC has announced.

Rihanoff said she could not see any similarities between Walsh and Jones's situation and that of her own.

Meanwhile, Seann's girlfriend Rebecca Humphries has liked a string of tweets condemning Seann's behaviour, including some tweets asking why Seann didn't apologise personally to Rebecca in his tweet.

The judges were largely impressed, with Dame Darcey Bussell commenting: "That was a full routine, you delivered a great energy, strong vibrant character, there were some really tricky lifts in there, I enjoyed one of the first ones where you took one arm and one leg where you swung her around".

On Sunday evening, both Seann and Katya issued apologies via their Twitter accounts.

In a withering statement, actress Humphries claimed that Walsh had called her "psycho/nuts/mental" when she suspected something was going on between him and Jones, who is married to Strictly dancer Neil Jones.

Strictly Come Dancing's results show airs at 7.45pm on BBC One.

'Those pictures were taken on October 3rd, ' the statement read, 'It was my birthday. He aggressively, and repeatedly, called me a psycho / nuts / mental.

Walsh followed suit, issuing a statement that said: "In light of the story in today's newspaper I would like to offer my honest apologies for my actions".

"It's been quite a week but, tonight, it's all about the dancing", said Tess during her introduction of the pair, before they performed their Charleston to favourable feedback from the judges. It's more than lying.

He told The Jonathan Ross Show: "My take was keep them in the show, make them do the Dance of Shame, if you like".

It had energy and was entertaining but I could sense the nerves from both of them with Katya almost tripping at the beginning and a few very nervy moments in the lifts. Well with that eight paddle Shirley I think we were watching different dances. I wasn't thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks.

"Show people, 'OK, this is what I did, I've been employed to do this job, I'm going get on with it and do it professionally'".
