The new Galaxy will be aimed squarely at the "Instagram generation" when it goes on-sale in mid-November for £549 (roughly $720), Samsung says.

It also features a 6-inch super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2220 pixel resolution, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage with an option to add a micro SD card up to 512GB, and a 3300 mAh battery.

Samsung mobile divisions chief DJ Koh introduces the new Galaxy A9.

Security-wise, the device comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back as well as face recognition. The handset comes in three different colours. It will eventually be available in three unique colors; Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink so stay tuned for more updates regarding its pricing. It's also been tipped to feature four rear cameras, and this is after all "A" Galaxy Event.

The main camera is a 24-megapixel one with an f/1.7 aperture lens. That last camera captures depth information and allows for the phone's Live Focus feature.

The A9 has a 24-megapixel main camera, as well as telephoto, ultra wide-angle and depth lenses created to help with a broad range of mobile photography. Finally, sitting right at the top of the stack is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera that gives you a 120-degree field of view, but also only features an f/2.4 aperture lens. This is certainly an impressive device and it is about to get even better after you check out the rest of the specifications, especially the camera side of things. However, the potential for disaster lies in each sensor.

Samsung Galaxy A9's quad-camera setup. "In a world like this, everyone deserves access to the technology that delivers the most value in their eyes". The primary camera is a 24MP RGB sensor, and it is coupled with a 10MP telephoto camera that is able to provide 2x lossless zoom function for taking images without losing quality.
