Wozniacki defeated China's Wang Qiang 6-1, 6-3 in the other semifinal.

US Open champion Naomi Osaka has pulled out of this week's Hong Kong Open to prevent aggravating a slight back injury, organizers said on Sunday. In the first last week, she got to the Pan Pacific Open final in Tokyo.

"If you haven't won a Slam, they'll say, "She hasn't won a Slam".

Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark holds the trophy after winning the women's final match against Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia at the China Open tennis tournament in Beijing on October 7, 2018.

"She is such an incredible player and it was really hard to play against her here".

A single break of serve was enough to see the Latvian take the first set, and the writing was on the wall for Osaka when Sevastova broke again midway through the second for a 3-2 lead.

"But my back's sort of been bothering me since the beginning of the tournament".

The Japanese star required treatment to her lower back during her semi-final defeat to unseeded Anastasija Sevastova at the China Open in Beijing on Saturday.

"She didn't give me any presents, it was tough", said Sevastova, who retired in May 2013 because of persistent injuries, only to return in January 2015.

The German spit out 31 unforced errors to 16 for her opponent, who notched 6 aces and 93 percent of her first service points overall to seal the win in just over one hour.

"I'm just happy to have reached 30 today, I'm going to enjoy that", said Wozniacki, a former number one.

Fognini withdrew from the semi-final because of ankle pain.
