  • The German is expecting another exciting match against Man City

Last season, City conceded seven goals in two games against Liverpool at Anfield in the league and Champions League; something had to change and there was a distinct difference to the way his team approached this fixture.

With Sergio Aguero substituted, the Brazil global striker was ready to take the 86th-minute spot kick, but the City boss instructed Benjamin Mendy to tell Riyad Mahrez to take it instead.

But with United already nine points adrift and Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea also playing catch-up, Liverpool know beating City is the key to ending that long wait.

The result leaves City top going into the global break, but only above rivals Liverpool and Chelsea on goal difference.

"I don't know when so let's have the best times of our lives until then".

Three thoughts on Sunday's top-of-the-table clash at Anfield in which Liverpool and Man City settled for a 0-0 draw.

"We want to create but when you make a mistake - if it is an open game at Anfield, you don't even have one per cent of a chance".

The scintillating football of the opening weeks of the season has been dulled a touch towards the end of that jam-packed schedule over the last few games, in particular in a flat 1-0 reverse away to Napoli in the Champions League midweek. We were close, more than ever to winning here, but it is better than last season. That is why I have so much credit for what we have done. We controlled much better than in the past, and with the second balls, on which they are masters. They also dropped deeper as a back four to deny Liverpool's front three the space to get in behind them and it worked a treat.

Egyptian worldwide Mohamed Salah scored 44 goals last season in all competitions and bagged the Premier League golden boot.

As for the impact of Sunday's draw on the title race, the Netherlands captain said: "I think it is not about these games, it is all about the other games, the hard games we have against mid-table and lower teams". "Against a very good team we managed to do that".

While talking about the recent performance of Salah, Pep said "He is younger and it was his first year back in England since his time at Chelsea, so we will see in the future", and added "But a guy who has the quality to score 50 goals in a season always has that quality".
