Brett Kavanaugh will hear his first arguments as a Supreme Court justice Tuesday morning in Washington, his first day on the new job after a contentious confirmation process.
A handful of Democratic lawmakers, including congressmen Luis Gutierrez of IL and Ted Lieu of California, have pressed for Justice Kavanaugh's removal over the allegations. The other eight justices were all in attendance.

The ceremony took place in the East Room - the same location where the President first announced Kavanaugh's nomination 13 weeks ago. The event is unusual for new justices. The result is a tacit endorsement of Kavanaugh's ruling on the limit of executive power in agency law, one that sets a precedent for future court cases unless the Supreme Court chooses to revisit it. Kavanaugh's confirmation gave the Republican president a major political victory ahead of crucial November 6 congressional elections, with Trump's second selection for the nation's highest judicial body.
Only one Democrat, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, voted for Trump's nominee.

Throughout his exceptionally turbulent confirmation process, Kavanaugh touted his long history of empowering women in the workplace, pointing out how he's actually practiced what so many others preach.
