  • CoD Blackout caps frame rate on PC

Activision and Treyarch Studios announced today that to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, you will have to download a mammoth 50 GB update.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 physical release requires a roughly 50GB patch on day one to be playable, although the new Blackout mode works after roughly 30% of the update is downloaded. As noted under the digital version, Black Ops 4 is around 55 GB in size. You still won't be able to play the game until midnight, mind, but at least you'll be able to bang out the download beforehand. You can pre-order this bundle right now from Amazon India while offline game stores should be having it from October 12. If you're using a capped internet service plan, you might risk running over your cap (or waiting until the next month) just to get a game that's ready to play, even if you bought the disc version to avoid a large download.

According to the post "players should have 112 GB of free hard drive space" in order to begin the install process of Black Ops 4 on PS4.

Before playing for the first time, players will need to download and install a day one update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The final installation footprint will be approximately 55 GB. To help counter this a little, Activision is allowing select retailers to start selling the physical versions of the game the day before release. Games like Black Ops 4 may be off-limits to certain players simply because they don't have the luxuries of unlimited data or truly fast broadband.

As usual Call Of Duty is split up into three nearly entirely separate games: the standard multiplayer, co-op Zombies, and the new Blackout - which replaces the usual story campaign.
