  • Trump mocks Obama for doubting his economic plan

Millions of Americans who can't stand Obama will just tune out the rhetoric, so different than Trump's and so missed by his supporters, but Obama's view of his successor is shared by prominent conservatives such as columnists George Will and Michael Gerson and Sens.

A new question was added to that category over the weekend when former President Barack Obama returned to the stump to campaign for Democrats in the midterm elections: Could Donald Trump have beaten Obama in an election for president?

The economy grew at a 4.2 percent rate in the second quarter, the best performance in almost 4 years.

Standing behind the same podium where the former White House press secretary Sean Spicer once falsely claimed that Trump's inauguration drew the largest crowd there had ever been, Hassett thanked the reporter for the chance to set the record straight.

"It shouldn't be Democratic or Republican to say that we don't threaten the freedom of the press because - they say things or publish stories we don't like", Obama said. I guess I have a magic wand, 4.2%, and we will do MUCH better than this!

Trump mistakenly said that Obama's "magic wand" quote was about GDP growth, but it was actually about lost jobs. What magic wand do you have? "And, usually, the answer is he doesn't have an answer". Later that same day, Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Kevin Hassett said the president was wrong.

The economy was, however, struggling when Obama took office in 2009. The U.S.is now its 10th year of economic growth, and in its longest period of growth with 95 straight months of job creation.

In the Donald Trump era, Rick Wilson has made a name for himself as one of the more fiery members of the small minority of conservatives who are willing to speak out against Trump.

"President Trump is lying, even about good news", Lemon said. "It's a leadership failure in the beginning", Wilson argued.
