The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned a Chinese tech firm, its Russian sister company and the CEO on Thursday. This article is strictly for informational purposes only.

Sources at that time also said Russia blocked a U.S. request that two Russian shipping companies and six of their vessels be sanctioned over oil shipments to the North.

According to an anonymous United Nations diplomat, the Russia "obtained the removal of the main part of the paragraphs", referring to the panel's original report that had named the Russian ships and entities accused of breaking USA sanctions.

Amid such reporting, President Trump has suggested repeatedly, in interviews and via twitter, that China has been relaxing its enforcement of sanctions enacted before his summit with Kim. "Period", U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in a press release.

Kim at the summit pledged to work toward denuclearization, although USA and other officials have said the North has made little progress to the stated goal.

The US in July had demanded without success an end to all oil exports to North Korea, citing satellite photos and expert reports to claim illegal ship-to-ship transfers had allowed Pyongyang to evade sanctions over its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

The U.N. Security Council will meet on Monday over the implementation of sanctions on North Korea at the request of Washington, the US mission to the United Nations said.

Russian Federation has said the United States had acted without evidence on the basis of groundless accusations.

Russian Federation argued the report filed to take into consideration Moscow's own analysis of the sanctions and that it had relied too heavily on intelligence from the US.

The amended report removed some references to Russians accused of breaching sanctions on North Korea, said one diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity. MsHaley called for the initial version of the report - dating from early August - to be published.

The Russian news agency TASS quoted Russia's U.N. Mission as saying the proposed sanctions were "unjustified".

"Treasury is once again warning the IT industry, businesses, and individuals across the globe to take precautions to ensure that they are not unwittingly employing North Korean workers for technology projects by doing business with companies like the ones designated today", Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said in a statement.
