Trump outburst over Kavanaugh's female accuser sparks #WhyIDidntReport hashtag trend

  • Las Vegas Nevada. Trump is in town to support the re-election campaign for U.S. Sen. Dean Heller as well as Nevada Attorney Gene

Ford says she believes the attack happened sometime around 1982, and has indicated that she is willing to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee who will decide whether or not to confirm Kavanaugh's appointment to the Supreme Court.

In the tweet, Trump surmised that if Ford's claims were true, charges would have been filed with local authorities at the time.

The tweet was Trump's strongest indication of support for Brett Kavanaugh yet, after the president had spent much of the week vowing he would listen respectfully to Ford's allegations.

'I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!'

Trump's change in tone came as Christine Blasey Ford's lawyers negotiated with the Senate Judiciary Committee on the terms for her possible testimony next week in a dramatic showdown over her accusation that threatens Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation.

Actress Alyssa Milano has always been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.

"TAKE THE VOTE!" Trump tweeted, blaming "radical left wing politicians" for the controversy.

In an op-ed for The Washington Post, late president Ronald Reagan's daughter, Patti Davis, said she told nobody "for decades" about her rape by a music executive.

Following Trump's tweet many sexual assault and rape victims addressed a wide array of reasons why they chose silence instead of reporting to the authorities. Using the hashtag #WhyIDidntReport, they explained their reasons for choosing not to report their own assaults.

According to Trump, the fact that Ford remained silent until now shows the incident probably never happened - even if this runs counter to what experts say is the typical reaction of sexual assault victims afraid or too embarrassed to report.

Ford told the Post she went public with her claims because she felt her "civic responsibility" was "outweighing my anguish and terror about retaliation" after the basic outlines of the story emerged in the media.

Ford wished to remain anonymous, but made a decision to speak to the Post amid fears she was on the verge of being outed.

"She was like, 'I can't deal with this, '" Russell Ford said.
