  • Knight was facing possible life in prison if found guilty as originally charged

Former rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter on Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The other man, Cle Sloan, suffered injuries to his head and foot.

The confrontation was captured on surveillance video near the set of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.

Suge will also be on parole for three years following his prison sentence.

Death Row Records head Suge Knight pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in court on Thursday.

Knight's lawyers previously contended he accidentally struck the two men with his vehicle while trying to flee what he thought was an ambush attempt.

Knight was facing murder, attempted murder, and hit-and-run charges stemming from an incident that took place in January 2015 outside Tam's Burgers in Compton.

The 53-year-old former rap producer appeared in court to enter the no contest plea wearing an orange jail jumpsuit. The deal was presided by Judge Ronald S. Coen who received the agreement from Knight who only uttered "yes".

He was sentenced in February 1997 to prison for violating terms of that probation by taking part in a fight at a Las Vegas hotel hours before Shakur was fatally wounded in a drive-by attack as he rode in Knight's auto just east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Months later, rap artist Christopher Wallace, known as Notorious B.I.G. and signed to a rival record label, was shot to death in Los Angeles. As presented, Knight will serve a total of twenty-eight years in prison. Shakur's slaying remains unsolved. He had been granted early release in 2001, but was sent back to prison in 2003 after assaulting a parking attendant. Knight was indicted for making criminal threats in August 2014.
