  • Report Seahawks to sign LB Mychal Kendricks after guilty plea to insider trading

Earlier reports on Thursday indicated Kendricks was in town on a visit. Kendricks, who was playing for the Browns on the day McSwain announced the charges, was released by the team just hours after the indictment was announced.

"Seattle not likely to waste any time: Kendricks expected to play Monday night vs. Bears", Schefter tweeted Thursday evening.

A week after the news broke, Kendricks pleaded guilty to the charges.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the Seahawks are signing the ex-Browns linebacker to a one-year deal.

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to sign linebacker Mychal Kendricks to a one-year contract despite his recent guilty plea on insider trading charges. His sentencing is for January 24.

Kendricks, 27, is a six-year National Football League veteran who, prior to Cleveland, had spent his entire career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kendricks reportedly made almost $1.2 million by making stock trades ahead of acquisition announcements.

The Browns released him from the team on August 29, after the charges were filed. He and Sonoiki were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and one count of securities fraud.

The 27-year-old, who won a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles last season, came under scrutiny from the SEC after he managed to turn an $80,000 investment into almost $1.2 million over an eight-month period.

National Football League spokesman Brian McCarthy said the situation is under review and Kendricks is now allowed to sign and participate in activities, including games.
