While there hasn't been a whole lot shared in terms of spoilers, the game is nearly here, and Rockstar has now announced a connected online experience for the game called Red Dead Online.

Anyone who's ever taken part in an evolving online video game world knows that it can feel a bit like venturing out into the lawless frontiers of the Wild West - flawless for a game like Red Dead Redemption 2! Perhaps Rockstar is trying to replicate this success with a similar take on Red Dead Redemption 2. Specifically, the studio says it expects turbulence at launch, and to work with the community to overcome "teething problems" and develop Red Dead Online over time.

You'll be able to play Red Dead Online on both PS4 and Xbox One from launch, the same platforms Rockstar has announced for Red Dead Redemption 2. It's no surprise then that Rockstar is going all out to make Red Dead Online as good as it can be. The experience "is an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption, blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways" the press announcement reads. "We love story-based, single-player games and they are the foundation of everything we do. This should feel intimate and personal while still feeling fun and action-packed from moment to moment". We'll find out for sure in November.

Rockstar has announced the multiplayer portion for Red Dead Redemption 2 - and it's called Red Dead Online.

We still have big plans for Grand Theft Auto Online and we will continue to roll out updates for the foreseeable future.

Although they didn't refer to it as a beta at the time, GTA Online was the same and access will be free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption II on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 (there's still no sign of a PC version).
