Possible Pixelbook 2 Ad Provides Glimpse at Minimal Bezel Design

13 September, 2018, 16:42 | Author: Rafael Roberts
  • Google's Pixelbook 2 is caught on video looking like a Microsoft Surface

However, the leaked video appears to show a surface style keyboard connector, something that is not now offered on ay Chromebooks at the moment. The Pixelbook shown looks very similar to the original released in 2017, but with much smaller bezels.

Google isn't having much luck lately when it comes to leaks.

There's also the matter of the keyboard, and how it appears to attach to the device. The video also shows circular keys, whilst the Pixelbook has square keys.

While some suspect that Google may be trolling the public with these images considering they control the ads that are going out - why would they deliberately leak a product not announced yet - it seems unlikely that Google inserted a render of a device that does not ever, nor will ever exist.

But this could still be a trend that Google will pursue for its next generationof Pixelbook designs - just not to this extreme. We could see this laptop unveiled as early as Google's October 9 event in NY.

Adding more weight to this, Chrome Unboxed also came across new Pixelbook ads that seem to show a thin-bezeled Pixelbook 2 instead of the current version.

Earlier this year, we heard rumors that Google, a major software company with a newfound interest in hardware, is planning on launching a high-end convertible tablet with a fully detachable keyboard.

The "leaked" images of a narrow-bezel Pixelbook in the form of Ad Choice and Facebook ads make me wonder if Google isn't embracing the craze of slipped Pixel phone images and doing their part to fan the flames of the hype-train that has been coming down the tracks towards the October 9th Made by Google hardware launch.

As of now, this is the only information we have related to the Pixelbook.

Unlike the Facebook ads that showed a device with bezels so thin, it was nearly guaranteed to be a bad photoshop, these images appear significantly smaller than the original Pixelbook while keeping things realistic. These devices pack beefier Intel-powered specs, metallic designs, and in most cases offer larger display sizes than what we've typically seen ...
