  • Missy Elliott Surprising Her 'Funky White Sister' on 'Ellen' Is Exactly What You Need to See Today

Missy Elliot dueted "Work It" with a fan who has been slaying her song in karaoke for 15 years.

Missy Elliott put on a special performance just a month after learning she had a "funky white sister" named Mary Halsey, who went viral for doing a karaoke take on the rapper's "Work It."

Towards the end of Halsey's performance, the 47-year-old hip-hop artist surprised her fan by strutting on to stage to sing the rest of her 2002 hit with her. I learned, I read the words, I studied it, and the reaction I got was so positive that it became my go-to song. Ellen DeGeneres has a reputation for bringing viral sensations onto her show and connecting them with celebrities. "Everybody wants to hear it". Halsey seems to have the wind knocked out of her for a few seconds before performing a duet with Elliott.

"It was an accident in the studio", she said. But halfway through the song, everyone was in for a shock when Elliott herself joined Halsey onstage to finish it off. "So when I listen, I'm like, she knows all the words, but the sound effects-she made the elephant noise, all of that".

Of course, Missy had nothing but incredible things to say about Mary's skills - and gushed about what she loved about Mary's rendition.

Elliott also surprised Halsey with a jacket that said "funky white sister".
