  • Mary Poppins Returns Trailer #2 Takes the Magical Nanny on a New Adventure

In Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns", an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. She's returned to Jane and Michael Banks, now played by Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw respectively, 25 years after the events of the first film.

In the footage Poppins returns to visit the Banks children as they are struggling to hold on to their house on Cherry Tree Lane, and Michael is trying to care for his children after the death of his wife.

The trailer also introduces us to Jack (Lin Manuel Miranda) a lamplighter and former apprentice of Bert (Dick Van Dyke).

A spoonful (or even just a blink-and-you-missed-it appearance) of Meryl Streep makes the whimsical first full trailer for "Mary Poppins Returns" go down even easier. Other co-stars include Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, and Julie Walters.

A gentle landing: Director Rob Marshall revealed last week that Blunt was the only person he thought could re-create the Poppins character, originally portrayed by Julie Andrews in the original 1964 classic Mary Poppins. There's Mary Poppins and she's... returning. The film is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago) and written by David Magee (Finding Neverland).

All in all, this is everything we want in a sequel for a beloved film, and we can't wait for the East wind to blow and bring Mary Poppins back into our lives. Dick Van Dyke also appears in the trailer playing Mr. Dawes Jr., the son of George Banks' boss.

Blunt stars as the titular Mary in the new film which is set two decades after the original. "I really want her to take this and run with it because she will be brilliant".
