Liverpool are back in action this afternoon, with the Reds facing Tottenham in the Premier League's early kick-off (12:30pm).

The former Manchester United and England defender, who is a pundit for Sky Sports, was essentially complimenting the job Klopp has overseen and stated that, without distractions, Liverpool have a squad capable of overhauling Manchester City.

The Brazil worldwide has yet to start a Premier League game for Liverpool but Klopp pointed to previous signings as reason for patience with his new midfielder.

Tottenham won this fixture 4-1 last season in a comfortable victory over Jurgen Klopp's men, but they would need an incredible performance to repeat that feat. "We have to do that, we have to rotate - [but] I don't know if we'd call it "rotation".

All three of their Champions League home group games will be played at Wembley, while MK Dons' Stadium MK will stage their Carabao Cup tie against Watford on September 26.

He told a news conference: "I don't like to compare players, but I think we had similar questions about Robbo [Andrew Robertson], about Oxlade".

"It is clear, with numbers [from] games and all that stuff - we get so much information after a game, which you [the media] don't have - you see how players react in different situations". That's too complicated; you have to go into the next game and see who you can choose. Previous year I don't think even Gary Neville would have said 'let City win in the Champions League.' Sitting in an office talking about football is different to doing the job.

"I don't know exactly what it means but to focus on one competition can only be if you're already out of the competition almost, or if it's late in the season and you see you have a chance to do that or this".

"It's absolutely no problem".

"I don't like the situation; it's not that I like to say to Fabinho, who is full of energy and desire and wants to be involved, "you are not involved this weekend".

"Naby Keita for example, Man City may not want him but if you ask Klopp whether he wants Kevin De Bruyne or Naby Keita, he would want Keita because of the way he wants to play". That's not nice, it's only the job to do sometimes. We have a good team together so that takes time.

"I don't expect him to score 40-odd goals this season which can help the team get better", he added.

"It has to be in good shape when we get in it, and if it takes a little bit longer then it takes a little bit longer".
