  • LA Mayor: President Trump's Star Should Remain on Hollywood Walk of Fame

President Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which Trump initially received in 2007 for producing the Miss Universe show, has been destroyed multiple times by protesters, most recently on July 25.

The 50 stars, which are vinyl (but look surprisingly authentic) are the product of a conservative street artist affiliates with Sabo who told the Hollywood Reporter he wished to remain anonymous.

A Twitter account called "The Faction" claimed responsibility for the vandalism, warning that more stars would appear if Trump's namesake is removed.

Earlier this week, the West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved a resolution to urge the Los Angeles City Council and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to permanently remove Trump's star, citing his "disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values" of the city. The artist said he was motivated by the West Hollywood vote and the repeated vandalism of Mr. Trump's star.

They spent $1,000 on the stars, which were printed on sheets of floor vinyl with adhesive backing.

'I didn't want to get hit over the head from behind.

The anonymous artists, who work under the name "The Faction", issued a tweet vowing that if Trump's star continues to be vandalized, "we will further spread Trump Derangement Syndrome by installing a never ending stream of stars".

Some businesses, including Hollywood's branch of the Ripley's Believe it or Not! museum, had begun removing the stars as of Thursday, THR reported.

While the artist asserted that the collection of stars "could last there for 10 years" if no one chose to remove them, an employee of Ripley's Believe It or Not! told the outlet that they were taken off due to a concern that vandalism would happen again.

"We didn't want to have what happened to the old star here".
