There have been no ins or outs at Tottenham this summer, while other Premier League big guns have made significant investments.

Despite no new arrivals for the first season at their brand new stadium, Pochettino feels they can still go on to do great things this term. I think the club made a massive effort to try to extend contracts with people like Harry Kane. I think the club is doing an awesome effort to try to finish the stadium as soon as possible, and the lodge is finished at the training ground.

"Of course it's hard to understand for people in football that Tottenham didn't sign or sell players, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently", he said in his press conference earlier today, as per The Mirror.

However, the Spurs boss could see his squad stretched this weekend as an update on TottenhamHotspur.com confirmed the north Londoners will be without at least six players for the trip to the north east to face Newcastle.

"We are happy with our squad and we can not improve our squad". Now we have players who compete at a high level in the World Cup, we have the captain who lifted the trophy.

Spurs had nine players who only returned to training on Monday, having been involved in the World Cup finals until the final weekend of the tournament in Russian Federation. That is a fantastic experience, for him to translate to our team.

"Sure, we are going to be better, no doubt about that".

Now Villa, who could yet be tested by further bids for Grealish on deadline day, will need to focus the attacker's thoughts back on the job at hand at Villa Park.

"We have a very good squad, with very good players and it is very hard to add players to that", Pochettino said.

"We work to improve the squad but, when it is not possible, it is not possible, and we move on".

Mauricio Pochettino claiming it is "advantage Newcastle", what with us having nobody in the later stages of this summer's competition.

Numerous key men at Spurs only returned to training on Monday after successful campaigns at the World Cup.

"I think I want to make clear that all are fit, but maybe we need to care for some players and not push them to compete, not take some rash decisions with some players due to their background or for different reasons that we are assessing now after Monday". That's normal. Some players will be fit to start the game. Maybe some players will stay here to try to reach the level, to have more time, for different reasons.

"Newcastle of course in that period, has an advantage to us, in the preparation of the whole squad".
