Tokyo Medical University said it is considering some relief measures for those who failed to pass the exams due to the deductions and preventive measures of dishonesty using surveillance cameras.
A Tokyo medical school has confirmed after an internal investigation that it systematically altered entrance exam scores for years to keep out female applicants and ensure more men became doctors.
"We betrayed the public's trust".

Keisuke Miyazawa, acting president of the university, said he plans to hold talks with the government on the possibility of accepting students retroactively if it was found that their examination scores had been tampered with.
The school said the manipulation should not have occurred and would not in the future.
The former university executives padded the scores of some applicants who were children of the university's graduates so the institution could garner donations from the parents, said an investigative report released by the lawyers.
The lawyers said they did not know how many women had been affected, but it appeared that women's test scores had been affected going back at least a decade.
The manipulation was revealed during an investigation into the alleged "backdoor entry" of an education ministry bureaucrat's son in exchange for favourable treatment for the school in obtaining research funds.
The lawyers also attested that all entrance examination scores for women were deducted, as ordered by Usui and with the knowledge of Suzuki and another senior official at another renown university, to prevent a shortage of doctors at the university's affiliated hospitals.
The investigation showed that the scores of men, including those reappearing after failing once or twice, were raised, while those of all women, and men who had failed the test at least three times, were not.
The lawyers said that Sano's son was given an additional 10 marks, which they described as "unlawful", adding Usui and Suzuki have both admitted to the practice.
