  • Secret recording reveals why Rosenstein hasn’t been impeached – and when he will

Devin Nunes was secretly recorded telling supporters that the Republicans have to keep control of the House to protect President Trump in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe, according to a report. -Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) In the series of recordings, as Maddow lays out in detail, Nunes also admits that a USA politician running for office who accepts and then releases, "let's say", the stolen emails from a foreign entity, that would be "criminal" activity.

"Do I support impeachment of Rosenstein?"

In another portion, Nunes explains why keeping a majority in the House of Representatives is so important.

"It's a bit complicated", he told the audience member.

The remarks appear to be a blunt assessment from Nunes, a top Trump ally in Congress who Democrats accuse of trying to help the White House with the Russian Federation probe, that Republicans must keep their House majority in the midterm elections to shield Trump from the special counsel investigation.

This email will be delivered to your inbox once a day in the morning. You know, may or may not be unusual. "And then take the risk of not getting Kavanaugh confirmed", Nunes said.

"So it's not a matter that any of us like Rosenstein".

"It's a matter of timing", Nunes said. Those priorities include pushing Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, through Senate confirmation, and potentially making another run at impeaching Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Later, he talks about the midterms and the honest need to keep a Republican majority in both the House and Senate, something Democrats are hoping to clinch.

"Sessions won't un-recuse and Mueller won't clear the President, we're the only ones, which is really the danger ... we have to keep all these seats", Nunes can be heard saying on a recording from a private fundraiser aired by MSNBC on "The Rachel Maddow Show" on Wednesday.

"If we do not keep the majority, all of this goes away", he said. Sessions said a year ago that he would keep his distance from inquiries related to the 2016 election owing to his role in Trump's campaign - a move that has frustrated the president, leading him to blame his own attorney general for the "Russian Witch Hunt Hoax".

The California Republican, a Trump ally who worked on his transition team, has been highly critical of the FBI investigation into the president and claims it was launched by biased agents out to get Trump.
